Award Recognizes Enterprise Excellence in IT
MIAMI – May 1, 2019 – Air Black Box has been recognized as a recipient of a 2019 CIO 100 Award for an innovative and unique technology suite that simplifies the complexities of cross-selling travel products for airlines, airports and travel technology providers. The 32nd annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT).
“We are honored to be recognized with a CIO 100 Award for the second time,” said Ian Reyner, CEO of Air Black Box. “As a company that strives to simplify complex processes and technologies, receiving this award is validation that we’re able to deliver innovative IT solutions that are a connective force in the distribution of travel products.”
Air Black Box was previously recognized with a CIO 100 Award in 2017. This year, the company was recognized for its patented Travel Connection Platform, which enables two airlines to quickly form a bilateral relationship and allows multiple carriers to easily form an alliance in which they cooperate on routes and cross-sell not only seats, but also meals, bags, and their entire range of ancillaries on each other’s flights. Air Black Box’s technology powers the Value Alliance, the world’s first low-cost carrier alliance and Asia-Pacific’s largest.
“Across the business landscape, companies recognize the vital role that an innovative, value-driven approach to information technology plays in their success,” said Maryfran Johnson, IDG’s Executive Director of CIO Programs. “This year’s CIO 100 winning companies are inspiring examples of how IT leadership, business collaboration and digital transformation will drive future growth.”
Air Black Box solves a key limitation in the travel industry – the inability to quickly and efficiently connect inventory and systems to drive passenger volume, business expansion, and increased ancillary revenue. With the Travel Connection Platform, which works regardless of carrier type or PSS platform, airlines, airports and travel technology providers can drive revenue by connecting their inventory, create new products through smart bundling, packaging and pricing, and remove friction from the operational processes needed to service and schedule multi-leg, multi-carrier itineraries.
“We are continuously expanding the capabilities of our platform to meet the evolving needs of our clients and their customers,” said Reyner. “A key innovation is our ability to deploy a combination of complex algorithms, machine learning and patented design to deliver zero-to-low impact on our clients’ operations during implementation.”

About the CIO 100 Awards
The annual CIO 100 Awards celebrate 100 organizations and the teams within them that are using IT in innovative ways to deliver business value, whether by creating competitive advantage, optimizing business processes, enabling growth or improving relationships with customers. The award is an acknowledged mark of enterprise excellence. Recipients are selected through a three-step process. First, companies fill out an online application form detailing an innovative IT and business initiative. Next, a team of external judges (many of them former CIOs) reviews the applications in depth, looking for leading-edge IT practices and measurable results. Finally, CIO editors review the judges’ recommendations and select the final 100. Coverage of the 2019 CIO 100 Awards will be available online at CIO.com in August 2019 and in the summer issue of CIO’s digital magazine.
